For a while now, I've been wanting to get one of those big scratching post/climbing post things for Emmy and Oche, our lovely cats.

Surfer-slang definition:
A young surfer. While it seems that being called a "grommet" would be derogatory, in fact, most surfers wish they still had that grommet perspective of the world. For the most part, grommets are boy and girl surfers younger than 15 years old.

While this grommet isn't surfing in the sea yet, s/he is surfing inside of C. :)

In other words, C and I are expecting our first child. It's only about 13 weeks into the pregnancy, so we don't know the gender yet (and won't know for about another month or two), but just today we saw an ultrasound that showed s/he has arms and legs and is wiggling her/his happy little fetus self.

There are still some genetic tests and screenings that we have to get done (because C is considered to be "Advanced Maternal Age" at 36), but keep your fingers crossed that things continue to be A-OK.

If all goes as planned, in about mid-December we will have ourselves a real, live bambino!
